From Quito, it will take you 4 hours with a private car to get to Bospas. About half an hour past Ibarra, on the road to Tulcán, you will see a green and white sign "Salinas" on an intersection. Here you turn to the left on the road to San Lorenzo and Esmeraldas.
Modern bus service is available from Quito with one transfer of buses in the main bus station in Ibarra. Buses from Quito to Ibarra run every ten minutes from 5:00 a.m. until midnight. In the Ibarra bus station there are hourly buses from several cooperativas.
The ride from Ibarra to El Limonal will take you one and a half hour. Make sure you get off the bus in El Limonal. The driver may forget to notify you. The last bus leaves Ibarra at 7 o'clock, if you don't make it we recommend the Hotel Imbabura. It will cost you 2, 50 $ from Quito to Ibarra and 1, 25 $ from Ibarra to El Limonal. The bus you will take will indicate San Lorenzo or Lita as the final destination from Ibarra to El Limonal.
NOTE: Some maps and guidebooks may instead of El Limonal mention La Carolina, Guadelupe or Guallupe. Make sure that the driver drops you off at El Limonal. Once you arrive in El Limonal, signs will point you towards Bosque de Paz, about 300 meters uphill behind the village. In case you have a lot of luggage to carry, you can count on Nestor Vela who lives right opposite the bus stop. For US$ 0, 25 he will take preciously care of your luggage till the staff of Bosque de Paz picks it up for you. If Nestor is not there, count on Bolivar Lopez.
